After final inspection by the quality inspection department, the products were officially put into storage. This batch of steel, entrusted with a special mission, is about to be shipped to a key logistics hub project in a Southeast Asian country, providing core structural support for its high-standard warehousing facilities. This bulk delivery not only marks further international recognition of GDD Steel’s high-end cold-formed steel products but also demonstrates Chinese steel manufacturing’s technical strength in the field of high-end construction steel.
Walking into GDD Steel’s production area, the automated cold-forming line is operating efficiently. The silver-white steel coils go through uncoiling, leveling, roll forming, high-frequency welding, fixed-length cutting, and other processes, ultimately becoming cold-formed steel sections with precise dimensions and a smooth surface. “This batch of G350+Z275 high-strength galvanized cold-formed steel sections is a high-end product we custom-developed for our Southeast Asian client,” explained the on-site technical lead. “G350 represents the steel’s strength grade, while Z275 indicates a galvanized coating of 275 grams per square meter. This combination ensures excellent corrosion resistance and structural strength even in hot, humid marine climates, fully meeting the stringent requirements of logistics warehousing buildings for material service life and safety.”
In the quality inspection workshop,
technicians are using professional equipment such as ultrasonic thickness gauges and coating thickness gauges for final quality checks. Engineer Wang, head of the quality inspection department, carefully reviewed the test data: “The dimensional tolerance of this batch is controlled within ±0.5 mm, and the uniformity of the galvanized coating reaches industry-leading levels. We particularly strengthened coating testing at corners and edges, as these are critical areas for corrosion resistance.” Pointing to the rows of data on the test report, he added, “All performance indicators not only meet national standards but also meet the client’s higher technical requirements, with some parameters even surpassing those of similar international products.”
This batch of high-strength galvanized cold-formed steel sections, soon to be shipped to Southeast Asia, will be used in the construction of an intelligent automated warehouse within the country’s key logistics hub project. This logistics hub is an important infrastructure project along the “Belt and Road” in its region. Once completed, it will significantly enhance regional logistics efficiency and promote regional trade exchanges. During the material selection phase, the project’s construction contractor conducted a comprehensive evaluation of multiple suppliers’ products over several months. Ultimately, GDD Steel’s products won the bid thanks to their consistent quality, professional technical solutions, and competitive delivery capabilities.
“We provided full-process technical support for this project, from material selection and cross-section design to connection solutions,” said Manager Li, overseas business director of GDD Steel. “The high-temperature, high-humidity climate in Southeast Asia poses unique challenges for construction materials. Our technical solution fully considered these factors, incorporating targeted designs in areas such as corrosion protection and structural optimization to ensure the building’s safety and reliability throughout its entire life cycle.”
